Welcome to Camp Arifjan (or Camp Patriot) and the Latter-day Saint Service Group! As a group we meet together in worship and fellowship, to honor our Father in Heaven and strengthen our fellow Saints. Our time here in the desert can be a time of growth and development as we learn to answer the question posed by the Psalmist, "How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?"
We are a diverse group of people - service members, government civilians, and contractors. Our military personnel represent all five Armed Forces, the officer and enlisted ranks, and the Active, Reserve, and National Guard components. Our diversity helps us to strengthen each other in the the unity of the Gospel.
Here are a few suggestions as you settle in (or prepare to deploy):
1. Feel free to contact the group leadership prior to arriving. We can help you settle in and find the chapel. Let us know if you need scriptures, lesson manuals, or anything else.
2. View the video "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled." This DVD, produced by the Church, is intended to help members in the military understand gospel teachings as related to war and help them find comfort and peace through the testimonies of those who have had similar experiences. It may be available through your local ward or stake library. Alternatively it may be ordered from LDS Distribtion Services. We also have copies in our local library if you wish to view it in-theater.
3. Please prepare and volunteer to speak in sacrament meeting or teach Sunday school.
4. Click here for information on ordering, marking, and military garments.
5. Find strength through daily prayer and scripture study. If you have a patriarchal blessing, include it in your scripture study.
Welcome to Camp Arifjan! We look forward to meeting you.
